Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Coming to XBox One & Playstation 4

Rumours of a next-gen release of Tomb Raider 2013 were confirmed at the VGX awards on Saturday 7th December when Crystal Dynamics announced that they will be re-releasing the game for the XBox One and Playstation 4 in late January 2014 (Click to watch the trailer and interview).

Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition will feature improved visuals, including a next-gen Lara Croft model, new environmental effects and TressFX hair rendering, and will include a bundle of downloadable content, including the single-player map “Tomb of the Lost Adventurer”, 8 multiplayer maps, 6 multiplayer weapons, and 6 outfits for Lara. But that’s not all. The Definitive Edition will also include the Dark Horse digital comic book “Tomb Raider: The Beginning”, the Brady Games digital art book “Tomb Raider: The Art of Survival”, and the 5-part documentary series “The Final Hours of Tomb Raider”.

If you pre-order your copy, you’ll also receive a limited edition artbook which features exclusive, never before seen concept art.

UPDATE: Here are some official screenshots from “Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition”. The game will be released in North America on 28th January and across Europe on 31st January.

  1. I’m quite happy about this. I missed it on the PS3 and it was on my list of things to play before I took the jump to PS4. Now I can play it post-jump!

      I already have the game for the Xbox 360 so I probably won’t be buying this re-release when I eventually get my PS4. Aside from enhanced graphics and some bundled DLC, it’s pretty much the same game. I’ll just save my money for the sequel. 😉
