The Angel of Darkness 30-Day Challenge: Day 2

Day 2: What’s your opinion on AoD Lara? (Her appearance, attitude, etc)

I quite liked AoD‘s cynical, moodier Lara and thought that AoD was probably the first Tomb Raider game that portrayed Lara as a real human being: flawed, volatile, yet strangely worthy of our sympathy. She had seemed almost indestructible in her earlier adventures and her near-death experience had obviously left her shaken, apprehensive, bitter, and even a little unsure of herself at times. It would have been interesting to see how her new, bad-ass persona and possible relationship with Kurtis Trent would have evolved if the planned trilogy hadn’t been nipped in the bud.

As for her general appearance, I thought she looked quite stunning, especially after seeing the slightly hideous Lara renders created for Last Revelation and Chronicles, and loved the intense eye-liner. Her denim outfit hasn’t aged well (though I loved the look at the time) but her other outfits were simple, practical clothes and perfect for this darker, edgier Lara. Of all the things that were wrong with AoD, the new Lara and wardrobe were not among them. 😉
